Day 1: Nairobi - Amboseli
You will be picked up from the airport or your Nairobi hotel then depart for Amboseli National Park as you enjoy the four hours ride arriving in the time for lunch. After lunch, you will proceed with the first thrilling afternoon game drive in search of the Big Five inhabiting this park. Amboseli National Park is best known for its great number of African elephants amounting to over 900. It is strategically situated at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. At the park, you shall have an opportunity to discover and spot the leopard, cheetah, wild dogs, cape buffaloes, impala, Masaai lions, spotted hyenas, hyrax, dik-dik, lesser kudu, nocturnal porcupine crocodile, Masaai giraffes, plains zebras, and blue wildebeest. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Kibo Safari camp.
Day 2: Amboseli - Nairobi
You will take an early breakfast in the morning before proceeding with the game viewing. The morning game drive will increase the chances of spotting the wild as they graze before the sun rises as they tend to go to the hideouts when the sun gets hot. You may be lucky to witness the predators as they hunt. After the game drive, you will return to the budget camp for lunch after which you will check out and later drive back to Nairobi. You shall arrive late in the evening where you shall be dropped-off at your hotel or at the airport early enough to catch your flight.
Amboseli National Park is located in Loitoktok District in the Kenya's Rift Valley. Amboseli National Park is 260 kilometers from Nairobi and approximately three hours’ drive. It offers unparalleled views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest mountain, as it’s strategically located at its foot. The different natural setting gives the park a spectacular view and home for the wild. This setting range from the acacia woodlands, plains, swamps, marshes, rocky thorn woods, and the dried up lake. The park is also a home to large herds of African elephants as well as lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, and more.
When accessing Amboseli via road, the road from Nairobi to Namanga (240 kilometers / 149 miles) is tarmac but becomes rough with potholes from Namanga to the Meshanani Gate. Access from Mombasa is generally best through Tsavo West National Park via Kimana (Olkelunyiet) Gate. Amboseli National Park has gates at Kelunyiet, Iremito, Ilmeshanan, Katrina, and Airstrips.
